The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the process for initiating new members into the Catholic Church by nurturing their conversion in the Christian way of life and belief. The RCIA intends for the instruction to be more than classroom learning of Catholic dogma. RCIA includes teaching which consists of examination of the Church’s creed, engagement in the life of the whole Christian community, participation in the Catholic community’s prayer and liturgical life, and active involvement in the community’s apostolic life. RCIA classes begin each year in September and continue through April with those participants deciding to join the Catholic faith being received into the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil. Classes are held on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 to 7:00 pm in the Conference Room of the Cathedral offices, located on the northwest corner of the church. Private instruction is available for those unable to attend the Tuesday evening classes.
