Baptism is the welcoming of a new member into the Catholic faith community through the anointing with blessed and consecrated oil, the pouring or immersion in water, and baptizing in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Baptisms at Sacred Heart Cathedral are generally held immediately following any weekend Mass.
The presider for each Baptism will be either a deacon or a priest but in emergency situations any person can baptize. The presider will be determined by the schedule and availability of the proper ministers.
